How I Improved my CAD and Problem-Solving Skills at Home

Mankind has an intrinsic desire for creation. Some people create products, some experiment with recipes and some create other people. 3D printing has made it easier for everyone to create stuff on their own.

As a second year engineering student who found out about Curiosity3D through a college professor, I got the opportunity to have a 3D printer at my home.

It seems a bit expensive at first but I figured I’d give it a shot anyway--worth it.

Let’s talk about the experience. Raunaq, my instructor was really friendly and guided me through every step. My CAD knowledge also improved quite a bit through this course.

Watching your own designs come to life is a beautiful thing. Long story short, the only the only bad thing about the whole program was that it felt like it ended too quickly. But I guess that’s what happens when you’re enjoying yourself.

I printed a lot of things ranging from the useful stuff like a Mobile Charging Station, to physics puzzles like the Tensegrity Table. Another thing I felt was great about it was that I could make all the cool stuff I saw on the internet but was too expensive to buy.

3D Printing is for everyone. A little CAD knowledge is preferred but it’s simple and can be picked up pretty quickly.

I believe that 3D Printing has a vast scope in the future. With a 3D printer at your home, you can make a lot of stuff instead of buying it. This will not only serve as a hobby but will also improve your problem solving skills.

And who knows? With the emerging demand of 3D printing in sectors like manufacturing, jewelry and even cooking, you might just find yourself interested enough to pursue a career in it.

To the readers of this blog, I’d suggest not to miss out on this opportunity as it’ll be a nice break from the daily life.
